AT THE YPN, OUR MISSION IS TO CREATE A VIBRANT AND CONNECTED COMMUNITY OF YOUNG PROFESSIONALS IN NANAIMO.

YPN is Based on 4 Pillars
Professional Development – At the YPN, we are continually seeking out opportunities for our members to grow and strengthen their skill-sets. We offer a range of professional development events, including our popular monthly member-led Lunch and Learn sessions. At our Quarterly Connect events, we invite local business leaders to speak, providing a wide-range of expertise. Our members are also often given discounts on professional development webinars and workshops covering differing topics.
Community Involvement – The YPN believes in making our community a better place to live, work and play. As community leaders, our members continually strive to make a positive impact in our city, tackling local projects that improve our economy, the environment and support our local youth. Over the years, the YPN has taken on some ambitious projects, including refurbishing the Nanaimo Train Station, starting the YPN Community Gardens and cleaning up Cappy Yates Park. We also enjoy getting involved to support smaller community initiatives, including the Silly Boat Regatta and Christmas gift wrapping for the Nanaimo Child Development Centre, CANstruction and the Relay for Life.
Business Networking – We constantly encourage our members to get to know each other in a more meaningful way through our signature events. These include meet & greets, speed networking nights, corporate functions and social gatherings.
The YPN has been very successful at creating an environment for business referrals, and many of our members have developed strong business connections within the group. Our members work hard at creating long lasting relationships based on trust and mutual respect.
Social Networking – Our social events are designed to provide a more casual atmosphere for members to get to know each other on a personal level. We also have group functions designed to provide a more casual atmosphere for members to get to know each other on a personal level.
Our bi-weekly happy hour is our cornerstone social event, which varies locations at pubs and restaurants throughout Nanaimo on every second Friday. Past events include indoor rock climbing, curling, tennis, hiking, and of course family friendly BBQ’s. Check out our events calendar for details on our next event!
